Shoeshi: this sushi chef makes fantastic edible sushi sneakers

Did you also always used to hear that you weren’t allowed to play with your food? Luckily, some people don’t let that stop them. A world-famous work of art on your sandwich? Check! Making a cake that is indistinguishable from a plate of steaming pasta? Check! Or how about edible sushi sneakers? All too good to eat, but fantastic food art to look at!

Shoeshi

Sushi chef and sushi artist Yujia Hu, also known as theonigiriart, made his shoeshi (with angelic patience!) at the Japanese restaurant sakana in Milan. He works the same way he makes any other sushi (sushi rice, nori sheets, the works). For the tiny details, such as thin Adidas stripes on the Adidas shoeshi or the famous Nike swoosh on the Nike shoeshi, he uses a toothpick.

Edible sushi sneakers

The shoeshi not only look fantastic, the names he gives his shoeshi are fantastic too. Like these SUPREME ‘sticky’ sliders—and yes, they really are eaten.

Or these: VANS ‘neta’ old skool.

With plenty of wasabi

And if you like a bit of heat, this NIKE ‘wasabi’ kyrie 2 shoeshi might be right up your alley. As far as I’m concerned, they’re all far too good to eat, but luckily he also sells posters of his shoeshi (send him a DM via Instagram) and fantastic merchandise featuring his other artistic sushi creations (available here).
