Jonnie and Thérèse Boer once again in first place in restaurant guide Lekker500 (2023)
The restaurants considered the very best in the Netherlands according to restaurant guide Lekker500 have just been announced. And it’s happened again: De Librije is also at number 1 in the 45th edition.
Last year, De Librije was also awarded first place. In this edition, they retain the number 1 position from 2022. Jan Sobecki of restaurant Tribeca in Heeze, Brabant, comes in second place. Jannis Brevet of restaurant Inter Scaldes in Kruiningen, Zeeland, is in third place. Remarkably, the top three consists of couples who run their businesses together. Personally, I already consider that a world-class achievement.
Top 10
Also in the top 10: Chef Syrco Bakker of restaurant Pure C in Cadzand rises from 5th to 4th place. He is followed by chef Hans van Wolde of restaurant Brut 172 in Reijmerstok, Limburg, who made it into the top 5 out of nowhere last year.
De Lindehof in Nuenen, run by Soenil Bahadoer, is in 6th place. Spectrum, where Sidney Schutte wields the culinary scepter, rises one place to 7th. Eighth place goes to restaurant De Nieuwe Winkel in Nijmegen, run by chef Emile van der Staak. He moved up from 26th place—a considerable rise. Restaurant Fred in Rotterdam, run by Fred Mustert, is in 9th place this year, also moving up one place in the top 10.
Also new in the top 10 is restaurant Flore in Amsterdam, where Bas van Kranen managed to bring innovation to the stately establishment at Hotel de l’Europe. Here, he cooks ‘conscious fine dining’, with sustainability, creativity and local products as key concepts. In the previous edition, Bas van Kranen and restaurant Flore were in 16th place; this year, they rise to 10th place.
49 new restaurants
Restaurant guide Lekker500 (2023) features 500 addresses, including 49 restaurants that have not appeared in the guide before.
The 2023 edition of Lekker500 (292 pages thick) will be available in stores on 1 November 2022 for €18.99 and can also be ordered via lekker.nl/bestel.
