Jumbo apple pie cheese returns to stores after overwhelming success
Good news for all fans: Jumbo’s apple pie cheese is coming back. Before Easter, the supermarket chain promises, and with a bit of luck, throughout the Netherlands.
Cheese and apple pie? As in: combining them together?! That may sound like a completely crazy idea, but there are people who claim that cheese is the secret ingredient for the most delicious apple pie. In fact, in America, having cheddar in or alongside your apple pie is a centuries-old tradition. Served as a slice next to the pie, or even incorporated into it.
It gets even crazier: there is even a saying that seals the love between apple pie and cheese; An apple pie without the cheese, is like a kiss without the squeeze.
Jumbo apple pie cheese a huge hit
Back to Jumbo’s apple pie cheese. We don’t know which brilliant mind came up with the idea, nor do we know which daredevil actually managed to get it into the stores. What we do know is that Jumbo’s Apple Pie Cheese was such a hit that it caused a massive rush to the stores. Before long, the crazy cheese had sold out.
‘It’s so delicious!’
Kelly Camfferman posted a video on TikTok in which she tasted the cheese at the Jumbo Foodmarkt in Amsterdam. And she liked it quite a lot. ‘You won’t believe it, this really tastes like apple pie. It’s so delicious!’ — said an enthusiastic Kelly. Jumbo did not expect the success of the apple pie cheese, a spokesperson told Distrifood, and ordered a new supply after the cheese sold out.
‘We received a great many enthusiastic and curious reactions, so the cheese is currently maturing. We hope to be able to offer it in more Jumbo stores throughout the country before Easter. At the moment, due to the limited edition, that is not yet possible in all stores.’
