Jumbo issues food warning for Keulse spreadable liver sausage

Supermarket chain Jumbo is issuing an important food warning and is immediately withdrawing Jumbo Keulse spreadable liver sausage from sale. This product may contain the listeria bacterium. Have you already brought this product home? Then check your refrigerator.

This specifically concerns Jumbo Keulse spreadable liver sausage with an EAN code beginning with the numbers 232455100 and best-before date 4-2-2023.
Don’t panic
Don’t panic straight away. Those who are healthy are unlikely to notice much from an infection. The disease listeriosis, which is caused by the listeria bacterium, is a rare infectious disease in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, 4 in every million people become infected with listeria each year. The disease most commonly affects people over the age of 65. Every year, the RIVM receives approximately 85 reports of patients with a listeria infection.
