KBG: winter Biergarten in 010

Biergarten is one of the best places to chill in Rotterdam during the summer. Good news for fans: this year, they’re also carrying on through the winter. In a raw setting with dark beers and hearty fare. Friday, November 3 was the opening party.

Since Biergarten opened in 010’s Central District six years ago, this place has made a name for itself as an ultimate free state. Rugged, raw and laid-back, with a ‘just act normal’ vibe that Rotterdammers love. That atmosphere and feeling also had to be reflected in the winter edition, and it seems to be working well.

Fire baskets, Chesterfields and disco balls

The picnic tables have made way for a fire basket surrounded by Chesterfields, and there’s even an old blue bus in KGB style. The side of the bus is open, and inside there are benches, tables and a DJ booth. From the bus, you have a view of the dance floor in the middle, with a disco ball above it. Because now that it gets dark earlier, feet hit the floor sooner. Worried about the cold, wind and rain? That’s been taken care of too. The terrace is covered with a large tent canvas.

Hearty dishes and autumn bock on tap

Chef Freek Dekker is overseeing the dishes: deliciously hearty fare made on a ‘smoker’. Think pork chops, a French pot-au-feu (stew with substantial pieces of meat and vegetables), pea soup served in cans (mind you: in cans, not from cans), pretzels with sea salt, hutspot, but with smoked onion and smoked sausages. Beer lovers are also well catered for, with more than thirty bottled beers and autumn bock on tap

From November 3, 2017 through February 4, 2018, you can visit Biergarten from Thursday through Sunday.
