Laughing: you can now snack in a Ferris wheel

Hospitality venues in the Netherlands have been open again for almost two weeks. A relief for many, but keeping a restaurant running in a 1.5-metre economy is not easy. Entrepreneurs are coming up with the most creative solutions. So is entrepreneur Eric Nijkamp: he is taking keeping things moving very literally and opened his Ferris wheel terrace in Groningen last week.

Win-win
In an interview with Snackkoerier, Erik Nijkamp says that his business was also hit hard by the coronavirus crisis. The idea for the Ferris wheel terrace had already been around for a while, and has therefore become reality since last week. “A friend of mine rents out Ferris wheels, and his business has also come to a standstill. So this is a win-win situation. Without coronavirus, I would never have come up with this idea,” says the Ferris wheel terrace owner.
A revolving terrace
A revolving terrace is obviously fantastic already, but there is more. The Ferris wheel ride includes a genuine snack package consisting of fries with mayonnaise, a snack of your choice, your favourite soft drink and soft serve ice cream! On Sundays, it is also possible to choose a brunch package with all the trimmings. The ordered food is handed to the guest in a bag to take into the gondola, after which you can enjoy an extensive snack or brunch 32 metres above the ground. You have to think of it.
Reservations
Anyone who wants to take a ride will have to make a reservation in advance on the website. Each gondola has room for 4 people. And of course, the same rules apply here as on a real terrace. Both packages cost 15 euros per person. Reserve a spot in a gondola quickly, because the now hugely popular Ferris wheel will only be there until 31 October this year. Can your stomach handle it?
