Lidl dishwasher tablets crowned Best Product of the Year

All supermarkets have become more expensive; I don’t need to tell you that. But there are still a few supermarket own-brand products that are cheaper and better than their competitors. Like Lidl’s fantastic dishwasher tablets—which were rightly crowned Best Product of the Year.

‘Cheaper and better, yeah right, that’s your opinion!’ I can hear you thinking. But when it comes to Lidl’s dishwasher tablets and detergent, I’m not the only one who thinks so. In the annual ‘Best Product of the Year’ election, they also came out as winners (again!).
Best Product of the Year
A total of around 230 products took part in this election, and more than 57,000 consumers cast their votes via the Best Product of the Year website. This makes the election one of the largest consumer surveys in the Netherlands, with consumers having a direct influence on the results. In the ‘Dishwashing detergents’ category, Lidl’s W5 All-in-One Dishwasher Tablets took the top prize, while Formil Super-Concentrated Colour Detergent emerged as the winner in the ‘Laundry detergents’ category.
All-in-one dishwasher tablets
The dishwasher tablets are all-in-one tablets and provide detergent, rinse aid, salt, anti-glass corrosion and metal protection. And you don’t need to run your dishwasher for hours at a high temperature: half an hour at 50 degrees works perfectly. A pack of W5 All-in-One Dishwasher Tablets costs €3.79 (for 40 tablets).

Lidl detergent refill station
I also always buy Lidl’s award-winning own-brand Formil detergent. Cost: €3.39 for 28 washes (because it’s super-concentrated, so you don’t need to fill an entire dosing ball with it). By the way, as part of a pilot currently running in ten Lidl stores, you can also dispense this detergent into a special reusable container. The participating stores have refill stations where you can dispense four own-brand products: Formil colour, white and black detergent, and Doussy fabric softener. It saves plastic and is (for now) even cheaper too.
