More than half of the Netherlands loses interest in a partner who can’t cook

no reservations

Ask someone what type they’re attracted to, and you’ll often hear plenty of clichés: intelligence, ambition, humor, that sort of thing. But apparently there are things we find at least as important, yet are less quick to say: for example, that we’re looking for a partner who can cook. Because according to research, more than half of the Dutch population (51 percent) loses interest in a partner who’s a klutz in the kitchen.

Quite a large percentage, then. But still, the saying ‘the way to the heart is through the stomach’ must come from somewhere…

And what should that partner prepare in the kitchen?

That was researched too. Don’t stress, Michelin-star level isn’t expected of you. Pasta is in first place (at 21 percent), after all. That should be manageable, right? To get you started: this is the secret British ingredient that makes pasta sauce irresistible. And this is how you make one of the most delicious and popular pastas in Italy. Chocolate: zero effort

If you’re still a little unsure about your spaghetti skills, go for number two. It doesn’t involve any cooking, but it does work if you want to win someone over: chocolate (16 percent). Well, you’ll have to pay quite a bit for it, because chocolate is much more expensive than last year. And that price is only going to rise further…

Steak and sushi

The top five is rounded out by cake (11 percent), steak (10 percent) — so be sure to read Gordon Ramsay’s 10 tips for the best steak — and sushi (9 percent). We can also save you in your (romantic) hour of need with the last one: make super-quick and easy sushi with this amazing hack.

Cooking lessons

With these tips, you can safely play it safe when you want to seduce someone with your food, so you won’t be exposed as a kitchen whiz you’re not. And before things get really serious, you’ll of course have already taken those cooking lessons and worked your way through FavorFlav’s tips & tricks. Problem solved.
