Horoscope: this pasta matches your zodiac sign
To really start the year off right, there’s one crucial question that needs answering: which pasta are you according to your zodiac sign? Our colleagues at Italiamo looked into their crystal ball and saw velvety ravioli and tonnarelli cacio e pepe, as well as tortellini in brodo and rigatoni alla Norma.
Which pasta are you?
Aquarius (21 January–19 February)
Aquarians aren’t afraid of a little progress, which is why fettuccine Alfredo suits them. Alfredo is a creamy sauce made with butter and Parmigiano. It’s a modern pasta, and Italians also call it Italo-American because it’s more popular in America than in Italy itself.
Pisces (20 February–20 March)
Pisces are often gentle by nature, so velvety ravioli ricotta e spinaci suits them perfectly. Naturally served with sage butter and Parmigiano. A classic that never disappoints.
Aries (21 March–20 April)
There’s no way around it: spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino with fresh parsley and the Aries sign are a great combination. It’s written in the stars. Spicy and determined, yet with an eye for detail. Spaghetti aglio e olio, a sauce made with olive oil, garlic and a chili pepper, may seem quite simple, but timing is very important. Since an Aries doesn’t shy away from adventure, this classic can also be combined with all kinds of ingredients to taste.
Taurus (21 April–21 May)
For a Taurus, spaghetti alla carbonara is a match made in heaven. A Taurus’s character traits pair well with this salty Roman classic. They also come in handy when preparing it. To make carbonara, you need to trust what you’re doing and think practically. The steps aren’t difficult; you just have to execute them correctly.
Gemini (22 May–21 June)
Gemini suits rigatoni alla Norma, a pasta with tomato sauce, eggplant, ricotta salata and basil. This originally Sicilian pasta is a little chaotic, but not too much. It’s also easy to make, which is ideal for Gemini because their attention span is often not very long.
Cancer (22 June–22 July)
Cancer resonates with classic trofie with pesto alla Genovese. This pasta, which originated in Liguria, is a crowd-pleaser and very well loved. Eating a plate of trofie with pesto feels like a kind of hug. The fact that making it takes some time doesn’t bother a Cancer—they do it with love.
Leo (23 July–23 August)
The Roman tonnarelli cacio e pepe, a sauce made with pecorino, pasta water and black pepper, suits the Leo sign. It may not seem that way at first glance, but this pasta is fairly spicy. It’s a dish you could easily cook on a first date—and still make an impression.
Virgo (24 August–23 September)
Virgo can identify with a warm bowl of tortellini in brodo, or tortellini in broth. This dish comes from the Emilia-Romagna region and is warm and comforting. You can’t help but feel better after a bowl of it.
Libra (24 September–23 October)
Lasagna suits a Libra well. Like tortellini in brodo, lasagna also originally comes from the Emilia-Romagna region. The beauty of the layers, the perfect balance between pasta sheets, ragù, béchamel and the crispy outside resonate with this zodiac sign.
Scorpio (24 October–22 November)
The passionate nature of a Scorpio calls for penne all’arrabbiata. This spicy tomato sauce is one of the spiciest classics in Italian cuisine. You have to love it, but if you do, a plate of penne arrabbiata can be addictively delicious.
Sagittarius (31 November–21 December)
Tagliolini (a type of fine tagliatelle) with butter and fresh truffle suits the extroverted nature of a Sagittarius. You also don’t have to do much for the pasta itself—as long as you’ve managed to get your hands on some fresh truffle—and it’s still a highly refined dish.
Capricorn (22 December–10 January)
Spaghetti alle vongole is the best match for a Capricorn. Briny and romantic—that’s the image that comes to mind when you sit at the table with a plate full of clams. This pasta can also be upgraded to taste by adding, for example, toasted breadcrumbs, ’nduja or bottarga. Capricorns love refining things, and pasta vongole suits them perfectly.
