Women Are Curling Their Hair with Pasta and It Works Like a Charm

Rigatoni

We’ve already seen plenty of wonderfully creative combinations involving pasta. Pasta with croquettes: not exactly a surprise. Pasta chips: we’ve made them a hundred times already. Fried spaghetti: nothing new. But now a pasta trick came along that really left us speechless. Apparently, you can curl your hair with pasta.

Forget that ridiculously expensive Dyson Airwrap. You can spend all that money on a massive stockpile of bags of pasta instead. It works just as well—maybe even better.

Rigatoni curls

You could call it hair pasta. It’s not greasy pasta that you smear into your hair, but actual pasta. You’ll undoubtedly have the most success with rigatoni. Rigatoni are those thick, wide pasta tubes. Precisely because they’re fairly large, they create incredible curls. The one thing you really need to remember is that you must not put cooked pasta in your hair. Just use the hard, uncooked pasta straight from the package. Though I’ll assume you’d already figured that out.

You wrap a section of hair around the rigatoni each time. Secure it with a hairpin. If we’re to believe the influencer above, you’ll get an even better result if you dampen your hair beforehand and apply some texture spray. An hour should already be enough to work the magic. I doubt that would be enough for me, since my homemade curls already fall flat when I look at them. But just look at the gorgeous curls she has! Holy shit! Shakira and Beyoncé have nothing on her.

Add a little (olive) oil and you’re done

People in the comments are just as stunned as I am. This works like a charm. Add a little (not olive) oil and you’ll have shiny locks stretching from here to kingdom come.

Some people are openly wondering how this could possibly work. One answer is particularly popular: ”Maybe because pasta absorbs water and releases a little starch?” That could very well be it. In any case, I’d like to apologize in advance if the rigatoni shelves in the pasta aisle here are empty. No, I’m not cooking pasta for an entire orphanage… I’m curling my hair.
