New at the supermarket: pasta for lazy people

We all know the feeling: you come home hungry, tired and wanting something to eat quickly. In the freezer section of any supermarket, you’ll find plenty of options. Including Bonduelle’s new Pasta Pronto. Pronto means quick, 12 minutes in this case. But when you read what you’re actually eating… this sounds like the ultimate lazy meal. One you could easily put together yourself, fresh. And much cheaper too!

We have nothing against Bonduelle. Their canned vegetables are great and perfect to keep in your pantry (especially now that we’re being urged en masse to have an emergency kit at home). But when it comes to Bonduelle’s Pasta Pronto, we say no.
Because a bag of precooked pasta with a precooked vegetable mix and cheese? How easy and boring can you make it? This sounds more like the dinner of a Dutch soldier on military exercises or a meal for people who have just undergone jaw surgery than a plate of food you actually want to enjoy.
Pasta Pronto: Fusilli with courgette and broccoli & gnocchi with tomato and mozzarella
Okay, let’s look at the facts: Bonduelle offers two varieties of Pasta Pronto. Fusilli with courgette and broccoli, and gnocchi with tomato and mozzarella. You pay 5.39 euros for 750 grams (2 people). It’s easy: open the bag, heat it up a little in the pan, and you’re done. Within 12 minutes. Not exactly pronto, and making it fresh is at least just as quick. And I don’t know what it’s like with your housemates, but the two of us really wouldn’t have enough with this.

Quick and cheaper
Cooking pasta, frying vegetables and slicing some mozzarella hardly takes any time, does it? In the time it takes to heat up Bonduelle’s fusilli or gnocchi, you can easily make your own meal with pasta or gnocchi, and it will be cheaper and tastier. So why buy that instant pasta when you can make a meal yourself that’s ready just as quickly, tastes better and costs less?
