New: BAUT ZUIDAS

Stop mourning the closure of BAUT ZUID. Chef and MasterChef judge Michiel van der Eerde has opened a new restaurant in Amsterdam: BAUT ZUIDAS.

Michiel van der Eerde likes change. And a challenge. He is not closing the doors of his successful establishment; no, he keeps successfully moving BAUT from one location to another. BAUT calls it a moving circus. Now it’s the Zuidas’ turn, and the restaurant has settled into a vacant office building.
FavorFlav attended the opening, and our first thought was: this strongly resembles the ‘original’ BAUT on Wibautstraat. The interior is raw and warm, and everywhere you see artistic drawings on the walls. It immediately feels a little familiar. The blue and white of BAUT ZUID is nowhere to be seen.
BAUT ZUIDAS is open seven days a week for coffee, lunch, drinks, dinner and gatherings. And there’s more. For example, there is the Back2Back Challenge. In this challenge, Michiel van der Eerde challenges a fellow chef, while the guests form the jury that judges both chefs’ dishes. The challenged chef then nominates another well-known chef or Dutch celebrity to take a seat in the kitchen.
