New: Haas & Popi

Enjoying an amazing menu while looking out over the IJmeer? Blijburg closed its doors, but from 7 December you can visit Haas & Popi in Amsterdam in exactly the same spot.

In the colourful restaurant, the focus is on ‘beautiful local produce with a briny undertone,’ as they put it so eloquently. They make extensive use of local vegetables, as well as fresh North Sea fish, oysters and, of course, hare. Quite a change for chef Julius Schenk, who previously worked in the kitchen at the ultimate meat restaurant Cannibale Royale.

Impressive

The waterside location is impressive, to say the least, but the food needs to be just as good. Julius has been busy fermenting and preserving for some time now, and all those products will soon be on your plate. A new city beach is also in the works, where you can enjoy a lovely glass of their homemade soft drink in summer. With the cold outside, that sounds almost unimaginable, so until then we’ll happily come inside for the natural wine and Amsterdam beer on the drinks menu.

Something for everyone

The restaurant says it cooks for every price range, from chic to affordable, with something for everyone. They also regularly organise concerts together with Lolaland in one of the venue rooms in their building. Sounds cosy, doesn’t it?
