New in Amsterdam: Píta

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with eating a kebab at night, of course, but at Píta, the new concept by Johanneke van Iwaarden, Freek van Noortwijk, Guillaume De Beer and Hidde Vloemans, you can get a slightly different version.

The trio travelled to Berlin to research the perfect pita bread. In advance, Guillaume had found a place online that made garlic sauce with garlic that was supposedly fermented for thirty days. The chefs decided to get started themselves and put garlic in salt.
Once they arrive in Berlin, it turns out that the place makes a simple sauce that is ready in two minutes. A bit of a letdown, but back in the Amsterdam kitchen they discover that the fermented garlic sauce they made themselves tastes amazing. And that’s what you now get on your pita.
De Foodhallen & Claire
Píta has two locations: one in De Foodhallen (open from January) and one in club Claire on Rembrandtplein. The nice thing is that the opening hours of the location on the nightlife square are the same as those of the new club. So at the weekend, you can satisfy your hunger before and during dancing with a quality sandwich.
Good meat, falafel and fresh pita
The menu features only a falafel sandwich or a chicken kebab sandwich. Veal kebab will be added later. Good meat and artisan bread are used for the pitas. And all the sauces are, of course, homemade.
Hidde Vloemans will be in charge of Píta’s day-to-day operations.
