New Sergio Herman restaurant

Sergio Herman has plans. Big plans. He has just received a second star for The Jane with Nick Bril, and now it is Cadzand’s turn. Five years ago, he opened Pure C restaurant at the Strandhotel with chef Syrco Bakker. In autumn 2016, another restaurant will be added.

When you arrive at the Strandhotel, it takes some getting used to. You get an eighties feeling, and some even call it a bunker. It is dated, and hotel owners Bart and Anne Gorthmanns are very much aware of that. For fifteen years, they have been working towards a plan for a complete restyling of the hotel. This task has been entrusted to designer Piet Boon, who also styled The Jane in Antwerp.
It will be my father’s cuisine, with the foundations I learned from him
New restaurant
The big news: a new restaurant is coming. Sergio is opening a restaurant in the adjacent marina that will contrast with Pure C. “It will be my father’s cuisine, with the foundations I learned from him. It is the classic cuisine I long for,” says Sergio. This was actually also the plan for The Jane and Pure C, but things turned out differently. Third time lucky, as they say.
Barbecue dishes will be prepared, there will be chickens from the rotisserie, a good bowl of salad will be served at the table and, of course, there will be plenty of attention to fish and shellfish. Sergio: “The pots are coming back to the table.” You will soon be able to enjoy a three-course menu at a regular price. There will also be a takeaway café where you can snack on a freshly peeled shrimp sandwich and enjoy a good cup of coffee on the terrace.
Sergio suites
A great deal is going to happen in the area of food. Sergio Herman is taking care of all the food & beverages for the hotel. Soon, you will be able to enjoy a glass of wine, tapas, charcuterie and cheese in the lobby; the Breadfast Club will serve an organic breakfast with fresh juices; Syrco will have his own dune garden with salt-tolerant plants and crops; and there will be a shop. Everything will focus on the region, from herbs to local delicacies. There will even be six Sergio suites for the ultimate hotel experience. Sleeping the way Sergio himself likes it.
