No talking, just snacking

In the same league as The Hague’s Haagse Hopjes, Amsterdam’s Mokum licorice and Utrecht’s Domtorentjes, Rotterdam could of course not be left behind. A decent city has its own candy, says Olaf Ouwerkerk, who recently introduced his ‘Rotterdammertjes’.

Roffa’s glory

Rotterdammertjes are a combination of peppermint and cinnamon candy. Fresh and slightly piquant, just like the city. The candies are shaped like building blocks, with packaging featuring, among other things, the Euromast, Central Station and the Erasmus Bridge. A nod to the city’s reconstruction and architecture.

For everyone

The fresh and spicy building blocks are made and packaged in the city by people who are distanced from the labour market. The box opens like a matchbox and has a poem about the city on the inside. The candies contain no gelatin and are halal, vegetarian and gluten-free, so everyone can enjoy them.

You can get a box of Rotterdammertjes for €4.95 at, among other places, Groos, Rechtstreex, the Markthal and via the website. Especially for the holidays, three bags in a wooden box are now also available.
