Oh no, not again… OMT advises short lockdown; hospitality venues to close even earlier
Yesterday, De Telegraaf reported that assigned seating in hospitality venues is once again being considered, and now more details have emerged. The OMT is reportedly advising a lockdown of around two weeks, sources close to the OMT told NOS.
During this period, which could easily last longer as well, events would have to be cancelled and cinemas and theatres would have to close again. I’m going to lie down in a corner and cry, because I’ve been preparing for months for our annual FavorFlav Food Top 100 event (you know, the one where we pay tribute to the 100 movers and shakers of Dutch gastronomy).
Hospitality venues to close earlier again
Reportedly, the advice also includes adjusting closing times for hospitality venues and the maximum group size. A closing time of 10 p.m. is being discussed. That is two hours earlier than the current closing time.
2G rule, seriously?
And then there is also the (draconian, in my opinion) measure the OMT is advising: introducing the so-called 2G rule after the short lockdown. This means that only people who have been vaccinated or have recovered from the coronavirus can obtain a coronavirus entry pass.
It is not yet clear whether these measures will actually be implemented. There will be another press conference on Friday, where outgoing ministers de Jonge and Rutte will announce the new measures.
