Does your cake always sink? Does your apple pie turn into a soggy mess? And are your cookies only crunchy when they’re burnt black? Then you’re clearly no master pastry chef. Robèrt van Beckhoven is, and luckily he’s going to share his professional knowledge with us, ordinary mortals. On his digital platform Meesterlijk van Robèrt , he reveals his secret recipes and handy baking tips. You’ll also find inspiring blogs online, watch livestreams and take online courses.

Choux pastry, one recipe

Robèrt receives an enormous number of questions about baking failures. ‘Almost always, it turns out that some recipe has been plucked from the internet from someone who isn’t a baker at heart and soul. That frustrates me. With us, you learn to bake from the basics, from people who bake professionally every day. There is, for example, only one recipe for choux pastry. If you start with that, it works. After that, you can start varying things, and then you’re truly baking.’

Sprinkles

If you only know Robèrt from Heel Holland Bakt, you’ve probably missed the fact that he already publishes his own magazine, has an online webshop where you can buy hairnets, dough scrapers and various types of flour, among other things, and that you can also order his cookies, baking kits and bread toppings online (Robèrt’s crushed aniseed sprinkles!). And now, this online baking platform, where he wants to bring home bakers from across the country together to take courses, share knowledge and exchange experiences.
