“Have you always wanted to have a whole apple pie all to yourself? Then make these individual apple pies! Simple, incredibly delicious, and they look beautiful because you arrange the apple on the pastry in a fan shape. You can optionally replace the apple with pear. In that case, leave out the cinnamon.”

How to make the individual apple pie

  • Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Mix the flour, 30 g sugar, 1 egg, and 1⁄4 tsp salt in a bowl. Cut the butter into cubes and knead it into the flour mixture with cool hands until a cohesive dough forms. Divide the dough into 4 portions and roll them between your palms into balls.
  • Lightly dust your work surface with flour. Press each dough ball out with your hands into a round piece of dough approximately Ø 10 cm in diameter. Place the pieces of dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Mix the hazelnut flour with 40 g sugar and 1⁄2 egg in a bowl. Cut the apple, with its skin on (remove the core), into paper-thin slices. Mix the apple with the cinnamon and hazelnut oil in a bowl.
  • Use a spoon to distribute the hazelnut-sugar mixture over the dough. Arrange the apple on top in a fan shape.
  • Bake the individual apple pies in the center of the oven for approximately 25–30 min. until golden brown and cooked through.

Tip: You can buy ready-made hazelnut flour, but you can also make it yourself by finely grinding 40 g hazelnuts in a food processor for approximately 15–20 sec.
