Feeling peckish? HEMA launches the mini smoked sausage

Rookworst (1)

I can easily manage one of those big ones, but for anyone who would prefer a smaller size, HEMA has something new: the mini smoked sausage.

HEMA is a store full of icons, because just like the tompouce (now also for dogs! and there’s even tompouce beer), the smoked sausage is also a household name in the Netherlands. This famous and beloved sausage has been made since 1936, and around 10 million (!) are sold every year. In recent years, several varieties of the HEMA classic have been introduced, such as a lean version, spicy smoked sausage, organic smoked sausage and the vegetarian ookworst.

And now the family is expanding further, because two new varieties have arrived from the nursery: the mini smoked sausage and the vegetable ookworst.

Mini smoked sausage

The mini smoked sausage has exactly the same recipe as the familiar HEMA smoked sausage, but is simply a little smaller. For just €1.50, you can pay a visit to the maternity ward at your local HEMA and pick up this little gem, weighing just 100 grams, to take home with you. The ultimate tip for your next drinks gathering: cut the smoked sausage into bite-sized pieces, stick a cocktail pick in each one and serve with a generous amount of mustard. Can you think of a better party snack?

Ookworst

The vegetable ookworst is made with plant-based oils, pea fibre, and free-range egg and pea protein. Beetroot, carrot, onion and bell pepper have been added to this. This newcomer weighs 250 grams and costs €3.50.
