On a budget: Bambu Kitchen & Bar

No energy left to cook? We get it, but good food is a must—never settle for less. That’s why we’re sharing our tips for truly delicious takeaways, the best delivery services and affordable places.

These days, you can go almost anywhere for Asian street food. If you want it to be very affordable too, as it should be, head to Bambu Kitchen & Bar in Haarlem.
Asian street food
The well-known street food classics are of course on the menu: you can indulge in a selection of dim sum, fried delicacies, pad thais and curries. We recommend trying the tuna tataki: a kind of sashimi with a citrus-based soy sauce. Not much of a fish lover? Then go for the bao tempeh or rendang croquettes. It does need to remain a little Dutch, after all. Everything goes in the deep fryer!
And you absolutely must, we repeat, must try the mango sticky rice. By now, it’s well known that we’re fans of this Asian dessert and we’re therefore absolutely delighted with this addition to the menu.

Cocktails
The actual reason why you should go to Bambu is the cocktail list. Or rather: the names of the cocktails. How about the ‘Asian Temptasion’? A delicious cocktail with green tea, Johnny Walker and Grand Marnier. Or the ‘Bambulini’: a mix of mango and prosecco.

On a budget
Each dish costs between 4 and 9 euros, so if you’re with a group, you should really just fill the whole table with small dishes. If you order an average of three per person, you’ll still have room for such a delicious cocktail!
