On a budget: BAR35

Burgers and beer: that’s mainly what BAR35 in Den Bosch is all about. Of course, you’re free to order something else, but why would you? Those burgers are genuinely very good and even tastier when paired with the right beer – including beers from Brouwerij ’t IJ and Jopen. The only difficult thing here may be choosing what to order.

Black Angus

After staring indecisively at the menu for half an hour, I eventually went for the classic: the USA burger made with Black Angus beef, lettuce, tomato, cheddar, bacon, a fried egg, pickles and ketchup. Oh, and fresh fries with mayo, of course. And beer: a white Vedett on tap. A great combination, although they actually recommend Jopen’s Jacobus RPA with this burger.

Perfectly cooked

After this burger – which, incidentally, is cooked to a perfect medium rare on a charcoal grill – I want another one, except that by now I’m completely stuffed. Better luck next time. Then I’ll go for the Angus burger with foie gras, red onion compote and truffle mayonnaise, so hopefully they know just as much about red wine as they do about beer and burgers. The two of you can eat here for around 40 euros. Not super cheap, but super tasty. Definitely worth it.
