A good neighbourhood bistro is always a welcome addition. A place where you can always drop in for a cup of coffee and a newspaper, a few beers or a lovely meal. Bistro Belleami has only been open for three months, but it’s already exactly that kind of place for the residents of Amsterdam West.

Twenty euros

For those in the know: Café Kostverloren used to be here. Also a lovely place, but you didn’t go there for the food. At Bistro Belleami, the menu features classic bistro fare. You can enjoy a spot on steak béarnaise, for example, but you’re reading this article because you want to eat something cheap. That’s what the Tuesday menu is for. Every Tuesday, you get a two-course menu for €20,- including a glass of wine.

The table d’hôte menu changes weekly, but you can always count on it being good. This week, for example, it’s a salad of quail breast, grilled vegetables and tarragon dressing, followed by a choice of roast pork belly with mushroom sauce and potato gratin or Breton fish soup. And all that for twenty euros!

Oysters

You can also enjoy drinks on a budget. On Fridays, all oysters ordered before 7 p.m. cost just €1,-. Add a glass of wine and the weekend has begun.
