In a side street off De Witte de With in Rotterdam, you’ll find Café LaBru, a small café where you can listen to live jazz. Even if you’re not a fan of this music, you should still go and eat at this quirky little place sometime. It has a cosy interior with all kinds of different chairs and benches that you can simply flop down onto. Posters and murals adorn the walls. It’s a bit of a mishmash, which gives it a Berlin vibe.

Ottolenghi

But most importantly, the food. You can feast on various meat platters, but the tapas in Ottolenghi style are the firm favourite. Order, for example, a plate of pumpkin, burrata and garlic oil, chickpea bread with mushrooms and couscous, or smoked salmon with sweet potato and crème fraîche. They also have a good vegetarian terrine on the menu. All of that for around four euros per plate. For a moment, you really think you’ve ended up in Berlin.
