On a budget: De Sushimeisjes

Can’t be bothered to cook anymore? We get it! But delicious food is a must—never settle for less. That’s why we’ve put together our tips for truly delicious takeout, the best delivery services and affordable places.

Of course, you could blow a few tens of euros at the local all-you-can-eat sushi place, but that isn’t always very tasty, and the danger of overeating is always lurking. No, then De Sushimeisjes in The Hague do a much better job. They roll incredibly fresh, colorful rolls—and at a great price, too.

The Girls

Those girls are Lisa and Nicole. Both are crazy about sushi and have plenty of hospitality experience. So what do you do then? You start a business delivering super-fresh sushi to people’s homes. Forget the scooter—these two deliver sushi by electric bicycle. Delivery may take a little longer than you’re used to, around 45 minutes, but that’s really not a problem when you consider that the sushi is prepared à la minute just for you.

But what to order? The menu includes the Volcano, an inside-out roll with surimi stick, avocado, spicy tuna tartare, spring onion and tobiko eggs. Vegetarians needn’t despair either, because there’s an equally decadent roll featuring, among other things, green asparagus tempura.

No decision stress

You can probably tell by now: choosing is going to be quite a task. And if, like FavorFlav’s Marieke, you can stare at a menu for hours without making a choice, there’s a solution in the form of an affordable menu. For 35 euros, you get the deluxe with no fewer than thirty pieces of sushi. More than enough for two people, since it includes almost all the generously filled specials.

For now, you can only order for delivery, but at the end of February (2016), De Sushimeisjes will open their own restaurant with seating.
