On a budget: Dimitri Petit

No energy left to cook? We get it! But tasty food is a must—never settle for less. That’s why we’re sharing our tips for truly delicious takeaways, the best delivery services and affordable places.

Ever craved a good pita gyros, only to be hugely disappointed by a limp sandwich with tough meat and watery tzatziki? Don’t worry, we know where to go in Utrecht for a truly fresh, generously filled pita.
Takeaway
The answer is Dimitri Petit: a takeaway measuring around 9 square metres at the foot of the Dom, where everything is freshly made in-house. The place is the little brother of the Greek restaurant across the street. If you don’t feel like sitting down for a long meal there, you can go to Dimitri instead.
For €9.75, you can already get a pita gyros with pork or chicken, grilled vegetables and a generous dollop of tzatziki. If you want to go all out, for €16.50 you can get mixed grill, salmon fillet, prawns or lamb chops with salad, fries and tzatziki. It’s better to take these large meals home, but that quick pita fix is best enjoyed on the bench outside the place, with a view of the Dom.
