On a budget: Pizzabar Deeg

No energy left to cook? We get it! But tasty food is a must, so never settle for less. That’s why we’re sharing our tips for truly delicious takeaways, the best delivery services and affordable places.

The Verwersstraat in Den Bosch has gained a hotspot since the beginning of last week: Pizzabar Deeg. A fresh, no-nonsense restaurant where you can go for pizzas and pastas without too much fuss. Apart from the whole-wheat and spelt pizza bases, that is. Ain’t no such thing as a healthy pizza. We’ll have a regular base, please. With lots of cheese on top.
Light and crispy
Of course, they have those too, and the flavour is good. The enormous wood-fired pizza oven at the back of the kitchen may have something to do with that. The base is thin and crispy, with a lightly charred edge. We go for the pizza with fennel salami and a calzone with mortadella. And cheese, of course: mozzarella, Parmesan and pecorino. The calzone is a little disappointing, but we’d happily have another of the one with fennel salami.
Peroni on tap
For fifteen to twenty euros per person, you’ll have more than a good meal here. Naturally, that includes a few Peronis (on tap) as well. The pizzas and pastas cost between 8 and 15 euros and are also available for takeaway. Although, while you’re waiting, you might as well enjoy one of those delicious Italian lagers.
