On a budget: Renato’s Pizzeria

These days, you can find very good pizza in many places throughout Amsterdam. Naturally, we’re very happy about that, but Renato’s was already here for us when the concept of pizza only made you think of a frozen variety.

We still love getting a pizza here just as much as we used to. You get crispy, thin bases, and the toppings are of good quality. The favorite is Diavola, with spicy salami, peppers and garlic.

The menu of starters and desserts is small and typically Italian. Everything looks delicious, but we mainly focus on the pizza menu. The Proscuitto Cotto e Tartuffo or Napoli—with anchovies and capers—sometimes also make it onto our plates when we’ve already eaten the Diavola too often. For a small appetite, there is a children’s pizza.
The pizzas all cost between €12.50 and €14.50, and including a drink, you can easily stay under €20. The restaurant is cozy and intimate, but takeaway or delivery is also possible.
