The latest food trend? After burgers, chicken and tacos, it’s now high time for fish. And I’m not talking about fancy fish restaurants, but affordable and welcoming little spots. Places that bridge the gap between the traditional fish stand and luxury fish restaurants. Visbar Beet in Amsterdam-East is one of them.

Deliciously no-nonsense
You can have lunch, drinks or dinner there. The interior is wonderfully no-nonsense, with wooden brasserie chairs, tables and a few trendy hanging plants and lamps here and there.
The menu
A selection of dishes on the menu that immediately make us hungry: razor clams, grilled mackerel, panko prawns, crab legs and the salmon burger on a brioche bun.
Fish & chips</h3
You can also get 'regular' fish & chips there for a tenner, but you can also go all out with shellfish and crustaceans such as cockles, oysters and crab legs. In short, the perfect spot to satisfy all your fish cravings (Schmidt Zeevis supplies all the fish).
