One of the world’s best pizzas is coming to Amsterdam

Rotterdam resident by address, Neapolitan by origin and one of the ten finalists of the Pizza UNESCO Contest 2017: Vincenzo Onnembo. From this winter, you can taste his Neapolitan pizzas in Amsterdam-West.

As a true Neapolitan, he searched far and wide for – to him – real pizza, but to no avail; there was no Neapolitan pizza. According to Onnembo, at nNea you rediscover the complete experience of pizza as it should be.

Pizza del Padron
After switching careers from graphic designer to pizza maker, Onnembo entered the Pizza UNESCO Contest 2017. Pizzas were his new art project. He taught himself the art of making dough and pizzas and went quite far with his Pizza del Padron. As a beginner pizza maker, he stood in the final alongside the greatest pizza makers in the world.
Italian with a Dutch touch
Both Italian, Neapolitan and Dutch ingredients can be found on Onnembo’s pizzas. At nNea, the purest ingredients are used, such as fior di latte di agerola (mozzarella), made from 100 percent cow’s milk from a mountain village near Napoli.
A pizza with kale or real Dutch cheese will certainly be on the menu alongside the nominated Pizza del Padron (fried pizza with cod and pizza fritta). The menu is sure to be surprising—that much is clear.

nNea
According to Onnembo, all major European capitals now have a Neapolitan pizzeria: Berlin, Paris, Barcelona and London. All cities, except Amsterdam. This winter, with ‘nNea’, he is bringing real Neapolitan pizza to the city. The name stands for ‘new Neápolis’, the connection between Napoli, traditions, chemistry and Vincenzo’s story.
The restaurant will open in December or January at Bilderdijkstraat. nNea is the place where Italian and Dutch cuisine go hand in hand. From Tuesday through Sunday, you can sit down for dinner.
