Pandowdy is somewhat similar to a crumble, but is actually even easier because puff pastry goes on top. Of course, you can make it yourself, but there’s a good chance you already have some in the freezer.

Pandowdy

The name pandowdy may sound a little strange, and it is. You always make it in a pan, hence the first three letters. Where dowdy comes from isn’t entirely clear. One popular theory is that it is derived from doughy, meaning doughy.

Recipe

In principle, any fruit is suitable for this delicious dessert with a crispy topping that absorbs all the flavors of the fruit. The classic version is made with apple; with this recipe from Bon Appetit, you can make it yourself.
