Pardon? Are supermarkets ripping us off?

Well then, what is this now? I was (as always) happily scrolling aimlessly through TikTok when I thought I’d come across another good food hack. But no—even though you could call it a hack… It’s just one that makes sure you pay what you’re actually supposed to pay. Because apparently, supermarkets aren’t always too particular about that.

And in this case, it’s about weighing fruit and vegetables. At many supermarkets, you still have to do that yourself and then stick your own sticker on it.
And weighing doesn’t always happen fairly
I often see these plastic covers around the scales too, and I never really thought much about them. But apparently, we should, because that plastic cover secretly makes your purchase quite a bit more expensive. TikToker Niesa decided to put it to the test, since she had already heard about these practices too. And sure enough; it makes a difference of more than 60 cents on her tomatoes.
Isn’t that bizarre? With the plastic cover, she would have had to pay € 2,76 for the tomatoes, and € 2,18 without it. Sorry, but I think that’s a truly outrageous difference. This was at a Plus supermarket, by the way—and they have (as yet) not responded to these findings. But as they always say: forewarned is forearmed, so be sure to remove that plastic first.
@niesavanoevern Saw it popping up more often.. But come on, man, how can they be like this? 😂 #tiktokhacks #boodschappen #wegenisweten #fyp #voorjou #vjp ♬ Funny – Gold-Tiger
