Are you looking for the best fries and/or other deep-fried snacks? Then head to Vinkeveen right away, because that’s where you’ll find the best in the country according to the Dutch Hospitality Awards. Paul’s Patatboot can call itself the best in the Netherlands. In fact, it won a total of four awards.

It also received an award for the best snack bar in the municipality of Ronde Venen, the best snack bar in the province of Utrecht, and the golden award for the highest rating, as well as the professional jury award.

‘Fantastic!’

Owner Paul Bouwens is incredibly proud of his award, and rightly so, of course. ‘Fantastic, especially in these times. I was nominated, the organization told me.’ What’s striking is that you can get more than just the standard snacks at Paul’s—for example, lobster and oysters too. ‘The only thing I don’t sell is no,’ says Bouwens. His wife is the chef at the Patatboot, which he purchased in 2020.

And what do you drink with your fries oorlog? Champagne, of course, because that’s perfectly possible at Paul’s Patatboot. ‘Fries with champagne are a popular combination here. In the summer months I sail every day and it’s absolute madness, but I’m also available in winter. I cater corporate parties, moor the boat for birthday celebrations and prepare platters for companies.’ Consider this a request for Paul’s Patatboot to sail by for the next FavorFlav staff outing.
