Pepsi introduces: Pepsi Apple Pie

As you know, we’re very open-minded, really, and we’re almost always willing to try out crazy things. And surprisingly many of them turn out not to be all that disgusting. But some things make us convulse with laughter in advance, because who comes up with this?

As if Cherry and Vanilla Coke weren’t bad enough (and of course, tastes differ—we know plenty of people who really enjoy them!), Pepsi has now gone one step further: Pepsi Apple Pie!
Not quite as bad as it sounds
According to food editor Kristin Salaky of Delish, who has already tasted it, it does indeed sound strange but is surprisingly delicious! ‘Light and refreshing, and they’ve really managed to capture the flavors of apple, cinnamon and buttery crust.’ Buttery crust flavor in your cola doesn’t exactly sound like something I’m eager to try, but hey… To each their own! Maybe it would fit perfectly in a Deliciously Gross roundup!
With a wink
What is pretty funny is that Pepsi is producing the apple pie cola as a limited edition, with a fun challenge attached: you have to follow Pepsi on Twitter or TikTok and post a photo there of your TOTALLY FAILED homemade apple pie, using #PepsiApplePieChallenge. The biggest baking disasters will be ‘rewarded’ with one of the 1,500 bottles produced especially for the upcoming holiday season, when many people start baking. Once those 1,500 bottles are gone, that’s it…
And that video is, of course, absolutely something we foodies can get behind: how funny!

It’s not clear at the moment whether Pepsi will also launch this temporary variant in the Netherlands, nor whether people in the Benelux can take part in the challenge. In the meantime, you can at least admire the baking disasters people share via their socials! Although they still don’t come close to these completely failed cakes…
