Prada and LVMH (including Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Fendi), companies that focus on the luxury market, have acquired centuries-old pastry shops near their stores around Via Monte Napoleone. These are Marchesi and Cova, two institutions with a rich history. Everything in these pastry shops is chic; from the pastries and cappuccinos to the ambiance and interior.

The acquisition by Prada and LVMH seems like a logical step, given millennials’ strong interest in high-end food products. People are more willing than ever to pay for quality. Of course, we already know the Ralph Lauren Polo Bar in New York and collaborations in pop-up form between renowned chefs and brands, but with this acquisition, Prada and LVMH are taking it a step further.
