Restaurant Just in Rotterdam

Restaurant Just was recently named the ‘favorite newcomer‘ by the readers of Buik van Rotterdam. They were able to vote for one of the 60 new restaurants that opened in Rotterdam last year. 

‘Less choice and more surprise’, that is the motto of restaurant Just. This approach is reflected, among other things, in the Just Feed Me concept (€35), where you choose between meat, fish or vegetarian and the chef then surprises you with creative creations made with whatever is available at that moment. This results in dishes such as red and yellow beets with hangop and salted granola, brioche with soft-shell crab and homemade kimchi, as well as cod with a white chocolate and apple sauce, sticky ribs or a juicy steak from the Big Green Egg. Served with good wines or a freshly prepared cocktail.

The name Just comes from Antillean owner Justin Niessen, 27, and a talented self-taught chef. A few years ago, he started as a waiter at Las Palmas, owned by TV chef Herman den Blijker, and the NHow restaurant. He then worked as a chef’s assistant at the Italian restaurant Fellini’s and took part in the popular TV show MasterChef, where he cooked under the guidance of Michelin-starred chef Robert Kranenborg, among others. His culinary skills can also be seen on the TV program Discover Curaçao (RTL 4).
