The Netherlands’ best-known fish company has been supplying the Royal Household with fresh fish for thirty years and, since 2 September, may also use Royal in its name. The Royal Warrant is an honor awarded on behalf of the king to larger Dutch companies that are at least 100 years old, highly important in their field and have a good reputation.

The company was founded in 1916 by Grandma Schmidt and was located in the heart of Rotterdam for 99 years; it is now housed in a building along the A20. From the new premises, more than 133 fish species are supplied worldwide to restaurants, hotels, catering companies, shops and wholesalers, sea cruise ships, superyachts and airports.
