Slagerij van Tilburg from Sliedrecht wins Spareribs Trophy 2023
It was a neck-and-neck race, but the decision has been made: Slagerij van Tilburg has won the Spareribs Trophy 2023. Slagerij van Tilburg also won the professional competition organized by Koninklijke Nederlandse Slagers in 2018.
“These spareribs have the right cut, are seasoned exceptionally well and grilled to perfection. A wonderful combination of passion and craftsmanship,” the expert jury said admiringly about the winning spareribs.
Spareribs judging
Around 80 butchers entered their spareribs for the Spareribs Trophy 2023. Subsequently judging all these spareribs—carried out by an expert jury under the guidance of the Expertise Centre for the Butchery Craft—is no easy task. All spareribs were assessed on aroma, taste, composition and preparation. The standard of this edition was very high, so determining the top 10 and selecting an eventual winner was quite a challenge. In the end, Slagerij van Tilburg, a true family business that has existed since 1950, took home the coveted trophy.
Second and third place in the Spareribs Trophy 2023
Keurslager Muilwijk from Ameide won second place. Third place in the Spareribs Trophy 2023 went to Keurslager Beverdam from Rijssen.
