Snackspert is lyrical: if you love bapao, you have to try this
Eke Bosman, better known as Instagram phenomenon @snackspert, ate his first frikandel as a baby, hates vlammetjes, has already devoured at least 1,500 burgers in his life, suspects that there is more mayonnaise in his body than blood, and shares his best and worst snack reviews on FavorFlav every other week. Today, read his verdict on Kadir’s bapao, and Snackspert also gives his verdict on Lidl’s cheese twister.
Kadir’s bapao
One bapao is not necessarily the same as another. Many bapaos sold in supermarkets look very much alike. The Lidl bapao from the freezer section is an exception, but all the other own-brand versions are more or less the same: fine, nothing more, nothing less. But Albert Heijn has recently started selling Kadir’s: chicken and beef. And you won’t believe it, but these are considerably tastier than the average supermarket bapao. Unfortunately, they are not filled as generously as the fresh bapao you get at the Asian grocery store, which is obviously a major drawback, but they are much more heavily seasoned. At last! The addition of coconut gives both the chicken and beef bapao a sort of curry-like flavor that makes you say YUM. That’s how you do it. Now I’m happy after all. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lidl cheese twister
You may remember that I once gave Lidl’s cheese twister 5 stars because it is unbelievably good. So I ran through the supermarket like a screaming kitchen person when I saw that they had cheese pretzels in their range. Best of both worlds? That’s what I thought. But unfortunately, I was disappointed after the first bite, because although it does indeed taste deliciously cheesy, I missed the grains of salt that are normally stuck to the pretzels. I understand why they left them out, because the cheese would provide the saltiness, but I thought it just missed the mark. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a perfectly decent pretzel, but I would have loved to give it 5 stars again. Now it gets a barely passing grade. Sorry. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fries with mayonnaise from Zwagers, Amsterdam
Don’t have a brother-in-law? Too bad, but luckily you can go to Zwagers in Amsterdam, Bos en Lommer to be precise. Perhaps the nicest brother-in-law there is. I could devote many words to it, but eating fries with mayonnaise while the sun is smiling down on you may well be the finest feeling there is. They are wonderfully crispy, the mayonnaise is so insanely creamy that you consider handing over your lip balm in exchange for this sauce—but perhaps I’m exaggerating now. I’ve eaten some fantastic fries in Amsterdam, but these go straight into the top 3. There you have it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
