Supermarket staff on: the sweetest things customers have done
If there is a group besides healthcare workers that deserves a round of applause, it is supermarket employees. Man, they have been through a lot lately. Fun things and less fun things. We were curious about their stories, so we asked them a few questions. After being shocked last time by the rude behavior of some customers, we are now focusing on the positive: what is the sweetest/nicest thing a customer has done during these coronavirus times?
Just like in healthcare
“A woman came up to me and said: ‘I don’t have any questions, please carry on, but everyone in healthcare is being celebrated and you deserve that too. It’s so impressive how hard you work.’ It was really lovely to hear that.”
Helping to find something
“There was a very old woman in the store. She wasn’t very fast and wanted some cookies, but the ones she wanted had just been taken by someone else. Then another customer helped her find a different kind of cookie that she would like.”
Keeping your distance
“Keeping their distance is rather difficult for many customers. Especially when they are wearing a face mask, they think they can do anything. Fortunately, there are also customers who point this out to others and help them keep their distance.”
A treat
“One of our regular customers made a cake for us!”
Love for one’s fellow human beings
“The sweetest thing of all was definitely a little girl who stood at the checkout with her arms full of groceries and proudly told us that she was doing the shopping for all the elderly people in the neighborhood.”
