Ter Marsch’s weed sauce is actually in the making

You only really know that your April Fools’ joke was a success when there was so much enthusiasm that the product actually comes to market. That’s what is happening with Ter Marsch’s Wiedewietsaus.

The Ter Marsch hospitality family is known for its Rotterdam hamburger restaurant on Witte de Withstraat, where they served the best hamburger in the Netherlands shortly after opening. There are now three restaurants, including one in Amsterdam. And now there is also a sauce range featuring Lookmayo, Truffelmayo and, after all, that weed sauce.

To draw attention to the range, an extra sauce was invented as an April Fools’ joke: the Wiedewietsaus. This sauce was supposedly made with organic cannabis and lime mayonnaise, as an ode to Dutch weed culture. The reactions to the joke were so positive that the sauce will be available to order at the burger restaurants from mid-April, as well as as a ‘to go’ bottle for home.

A 250 ml bottle of Wiedewietsaus costs € 9.50. Would you rather have the Lookmayo or Truffelmayo? Those cost € 4.95 and € 5.95.
