The best tomato soup ever comes straight from the supermarket (and this is it!)

Just like Michelin-starred chefs don’t eat caviar all day, we don’t make everything (entirely) ourselves at FavorFlav either. Okay, we do make our pesto and guacamole (and without a food processor), but tomato soup? I get that at the supermarket, because my goodness, they have an absolutely top-notch tomato soup there!

Homemade food really isn’t always better, tastier and more impressive than the ready-made version. These are things we never make ourselves, either. And although this is the best tomato soup ever, according to FavorFlav’s Renée, I’m simply over the moon with my supermarket version. Not only because it’s at least as tasty (sorry, Renée), but also because it’s on the table, steaming hot, within ten minutes. A double win, if you ask me.
Best tomato soup ever: just purée it
A little oil in the pan, sauté briefly, add water and the included sachet of stock powder, cook for a moment, then blitz it with the immersion blender, and you’re done. At the end, I add a little cream, some fresh basil and, if I have it at home, a spoonful of homemade pesto (following the surprising pesto recipe from famous chef Massimo Bottura).
And believe me: everyone who has ever eaten this Albert Heijn tomato soup at my place thinks it’s heavenly. So I always pretend I’ve made it myself, from scratch, and hide the packaging at the bottom of the bin. I recommend you do the same from now on. Unless you have oceans of time and are bad at pretending, or a combination of both.
P.S. #nospon, just love
