Heli Lounge Bar – Kuala Lumpur

In the middle of the city, you enter a somewhat deserted building. The elevator takes you to the 34th floor. Once there, you have a spectacular view of the city, but it gets even better. Go upstairs and you emerge onto… A helipad. It is strikingly quiet, because you are far above the sounds of the busy city.

Marina Bay Sands – Singapore

An infinity pool with palm trees and loungers high on the roof of a hotel, in the middle of Singapore. Need we say more? Oh yes, you first need to book a room to gain access to this hotspot. The menu at the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool features signature cocktails, light salads and sushi. The infinity pool looks like an elongated spaceship that has landed on top of the hotel’s three towers.

JIS – Japan

This bar in northern Japan is extremely instagrammable. The futuristic design consists of many rounded shapes. White clouds with soft blue lighting hang from the ceiling, giving the bar a mysterious touch. The bar stools are shaped like ice cream cones, and behind the bar stands a pillar that makes you think of an enormous beanstalk. In short: a wonderfully surreal fairy tale.

Rock bar – Bali

The beautiful Ayana resort is in a unique location atop the cliffs of Bukit, a peninsula in the south of Bali. From fourteen meters above sea level, you look out over the azure-blue water. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks, the adjacent swimming pool, the cocktails… Surely this is the ultimate tropical holiday destination?

H.R. Giger Museum Bar – Switzerland

Well, hello there Game of Thrones bar. Spines as vaulted ceilings, spooky skeleton chairs. You have to be into it, but here you are absolutely transported to another world for a while. This bar belongs to a museum dedicated to artist Hansruedi Giger. His surreal and sometimes controversial work is exhibited here. He designed the bar’s interior himself, so you are actually sitting inside a huge work of art.
