The solution to no-shows

Restaurants are affected by people who make reservations but do not show up. A solution has now been devised.

Deposit with your reservation
Paying a deposit in advance when making a reservation at a restaurant. According to restaurant reservation website Couverts.nl, it is the solution to no-shows that cost restaurants a lot of money. When making a reservation, a deposit is temporarily held on the guest’s credit card. If you do come to eat as planned, nothing is charged to the credit card, and if you cancel on time, there is no problem either. Couverts will run a pilot with the new system over the coming month to see whether it works well.
A Champagne Campaign
Can you immediately tell whether you have got your hands on an expensive bottle of bubbly? BuzzFeed put it to the test in this video, and the final verdict remains: cheap or expensive, Champagne is made by fairies.
Buy ugly fruit and vegetables
Wallmart is also going to sell ‘ugly’ vegetables in England to help combat food waste . In the United States alone, four billion kilos of fruit and vegetables are thrown away every year simply because they do not look good enough. Supermarket Asda will offer the vegetables at reduced prices. In the Netherlands, you can buy these vegetables online from Albert Heijn, but not in stores yet.
