Do you sna(c)k for a little more kick when you eat a bitterball? Do you slather Sriracha on everything, dump a generous dose of sambal on every dish and always choose the green curry? Then the spicy bitterball is perfect for you. Because this one is seriously hot!

Don’t burn your mouth

Rule number 1 when eating a bitterball: don’t put it in your mouth all at once. Everyone knows that’ll burn your mouth. Here’s how to do it: carefully bite off part of the bitterball, creating a little lid à la Calimero through which the hot air can escape. That way, by the time you take your next bite, the ball has cooled down nicely. But be warned: with the spicy bitterball, you can still be burning up even after all these steps. Because of the hot peppers, not the high temperature.

Airfryer magic

The spicy bitterball is made with beef, chili, Tabasco and pepper, and gets its red color from the red breadcrumbs. Good news! Besides perhaps already having spotted it on the drinks menu at your favorite pub, the spicy bitterball is now also available in the supermarket. Delicious in the Airfryer or oven, so healthier than deep-fried! With it: a cold beer; a match made in heaven.
