There’s a new Croky flavor in the supermarket, and this is what we think of it

croky mexican taco taste test

When it comes to crisps, I’m truly a magpie; if I spot something new in the supermarket, dressed in shiny packaging, it immediately grabs my attention. And so, an hour ago, I was walking through Jumbo and what did I see? New Croky crisp flavors. Yes, of course I had to take them home immediately. Mexican Taco—in theory, that sounds absolutely delicious… But is it really?

Of course, I did a taste test right away because I went to the supermarket hungry and came home even hungrier… So I tore open the bag immediately.

First impression of Croky Mexican Taco

Well, that’s not bad at all—it actually smells pretty good. You can clearly smell the spices, which I always think is a good sign. I have to admit that Croky crisps are always a bit of a hit or miss for me; for example, I really don’t like the paprika flavor, but I do like the Bolognese crisps.

Mexican Taco rollers

Anyway, back to the Mexican Taco rollers. Because yes, they are rollers. In terms of shape, they’re reminiscent of a wokkel, but these are much airier; they’re corn snacks, after all. And that works really well here, because it doesn’t just smell well-seasoned—it tastes that way too. Very moreish. Perfect with drinks; a solid pass.

The only caveat is that, flavor-wise, Croky Mexican Taco tastes very much like the spicy cassava prawn crackers found on supermarket shelves. But aside from that—getting a bag of these is definitely a good idea.
