These 7 drinks really give you the worst hangovers

So much fun, a drink here and a nightcap there. Especially now that the sun is shining again. It’s just those hangovers—oh man, what a nightmare… The older you get, the worse the hangover. Not in the mood for a hangover from hell? Our colleagues at Amayzine told us which drinks we’d be better off avoiding. Sweet of them, right? Make the most of it.

Here they are, the forbidden fruits:
1. Tropical cocktails. No sweet mixes, and skip the Malibu with mixer, so to speak. Sugars make your headache even worse.
2. No cheap stuff. You’re better off investing in that good bottle of wine than drinking awful plonk that turns your stomach.
3. Skip the garlic. It upsets your stomach too. Just kidding, that wasn’t a drink. But it is useful. And mooooving on.
4. Leave the red wine alone too: it contains more sulfites, which make your hangover worse. Choose white.
5. But not all white is good. Champagne: so much fun for toasting and clinking glasses, but not smart if you want to feel fit the day after. The bubbles make the alcohol enter your bloodstream fairly quickly, and that doesn’t help with the hangover.
6. All mixed drinks with mixers containing caffeine. So: vodka-Red Bull (do people still drink that at bars? I’m getting old…), but also espresso martinis. Or an Italian coffee with amaretto and whipped cream. You won’t sleep, and with little sleep, well, fill in for yourself how you’ll get through the next day.
