These are the best chocolate chip cookies in New York (and perhaps the world)

Levain

They are the holy grail of New York baked goods. Gooey, indulgent and perfect: the chocolate chip cookies from Levain Bakery. The only downside: the recipe is so secret that even employees are not allowed to know it until they have worked there for five years.

During my trip to New York, I was lucky enough to have to wait in line for only ten minutes, but normally the lines at Levain Bakery are long. Very long.

And rightly so, because they are truly the most delicious cookies I have ever eaten. Are you, like me, crazy about cookie dough? Then this is totally your thing. The cookies are perfectly baked on the outside, but almost ‘raw’ and cookie-dough-like on the inside. Add the still slightly liquid chocolate chips to that and oh man. What a delight. Abnormally large and guaranteed to give you a 100% sugar rush, but they are more than worth it.

Levain Bakery recently announced some news too: they are expanding their range with a ‘two chip’ cookie, to celebrate the opening of their new shop in NoHo.

Crack the cookie code

But travelling to New York every time you want one is taking things a bit far. Long live the internet, which is full of Levain dupes. Even our own Emma took on a chocolate chip cookie guide.

But if you want a little more help—as in, actually seeing how it’s done—then I found a really great tutorial for you here. Take three guesses what I’ll be doing this coming weekend.
