These 7 Dutch chefs are in the running for best chef in the world
The Best Chef has announced the Top 100 with new candidates for The Best Chef Awards 2020. And seven of them are Dutch! Even better: this year’s awards gala will take place in Rotterdam. What. A. Celebration.
The name says it all: The Best Chef Awards are all about the best chefs in the world. Independent partners put forward new candidates every year. This year, there are seven from the Netherlands: Dennis Huwaë (Daalder, Amsterdam), Erik & Juliën van Loo (Parkheuvel, Rotterdam), François Geurds (FG Restaurant, Rotterdam), Fred Mustert (Fred, Rotterdam), Jan Sobecki (Tribeca, Heeze), Jonathan Zandbergen (Merlet, Schoorl) and Sidney Schutte (Spectrum, Amsterdam).
2019 candidates
Together with last year’s candidates — none other than Jonnie Boer (De Librije), Joris Bijdendijk (Rijks), Soenil Bahadoer (De Lindehof), Syrco Bakker (Pure C), Jacob Jan Boerma (De Leest), Jannis Brevet (Inter Scaldes), Richard Ekkebus (Amber) and Nick Bril (The Jane) — they have a chance of being included in the final Top 100.
Voting
They also have to rely on their colleagues: the selected chefs can vote for one another. Don’t worry, favoritism won’t help. A selection of hospitality professionals, photographers and foodies can also vote. The chefs with the highest scores will ultimately be included in the Top 100.
