These brothers spotted a gap in the market: organic halal baby food!

This is impressive: two brothers who noticed a clear gap in supermarkets spent a year and a half developing their unique product, which has been available on a large scale in (137) Albert Heijn stores since last week…

Organic halal baby food! The fact that no one had thought of it before, or managed to make a success of it, is quite remarkable, but according to entrepreneurial brothers Riduan and Mohamed El Mourabit, the time now seems completely right for it.
Working parents with little ones
Mohamed tells nu.nl that the idea arose after the birth of his son, when he and his wife, as working parents, noticed that there was not always time to prepare a healthy halal meal for their little one themselves. Responsible baby food made with sustainable ingredients was not available here and was also only available to a limited extent in other European countries, while they did see the number of other halal products in stores increasing.
European regulations
Together, they developed the idea, and although they thought that making the move into retail would be the most difficult step, in practice the issue turned out to be organic certification. But all that effort has paid off, because their baby food brand Little Maryam is now the very first organic halal product on the market in this category; the supermarkets they spoke to were positive right away.
Complete trust
The brothers trust each other implicitly, which of course makes for a very strong foundation for the business. There are big plans for the future: expanding the range, crossing borders, and ultimately, they hope, becoming the market leader in halal baby food.
And if you eat halal yourself, or are simply curious: according to Riduan, you can easily heat up the jars for yourself if you have nothing else at home!
